Skilled – Independent Student Visa (subclass 885)
This subclass is for students who have completed their studies who meet the basic requirements for both the migration visa and the onshore student category. Applicants must also obtain the requisite number of points based on characteristics such as age, English language ability, skills and qualifications.
The subclass 885 visa confers Australian permanent residency on the holder.
These applications involve two (2) stages which may be prepared simultaneously:
- A skill assessment by the relevant authority
- Visa application to the Department of Immigration
