Business Migration

Australia's Business Skills migration programme is designed to attract successful business people (business owners, senior executives, investors) with a demonstrated business or investment history, who are committed to advancing the Australian economy and public life more generally.

To be eligible for a Business Skills visa, applicants must:

  • Have successful business careers, more specifically in two out of the last four financial years (including no history of bankruptcy, insolvency, receivership or liquidation of a business);
  • Hold a genuine and realistic commitment to new or existing investment opportunities which will benefit Australia;
  • Have been engaged in past business activities that are acceptable in Australia.

The majority of business applications to Australia are based on provisional (temporary) 4 year visas. An applicant who holds a provisional business visa may choose to apply for permanent residency once they fulfil the eligibility requirements during the four years of their stay in Australia. Applicants under the Business Talent Visa, however, are exempt from this requirement and may apply for residency immediately.

The seven most common business visa categories are:

  • Business Owner (Provisional)
  • Business Owner - State/Territory Sponsored (Provisional)
  • Senior Executive (Provisional)
  • Senior Executive – State/Territory Sponsored (Provisional)
  • Investor (Provisional)
  • Investor – State/Territory Sponsored (Provisional)
  • Business Talent (Permanent)
